Mr. Cochran and Mr. Whittington both focus on workers’ compensation law and represent injured workers who are having difficulty obtaining workers’ compensation benefits after sustaining serious work-related injuries or illnesses in North Carolina.
Most employers in North Carolina are required to carry workers’ compensation insurance to protect employees. Workers’ compensation insurance is intended to pay the cost of medical care of injured employees and replace a portion of workers’ lost income after an on-the-job injury or illness. Sometimes, however, businesses and insurance administrators dispute valid workplace injury claims and injured workers need help obtaining the full benefits they should receive according to law.
Both attorneys have previously been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Cochran has been listed in each edition of The Best Lawyers in America since 2014. Mr. Cochran is the managing partner of Hardison & Cochran, which has offices in Raleigh, Durham, Fayetteville, Dunn, Greensboro, Southern Pines, and Wilmington. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.
Mr. Whittington was previously listed in Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch in 2021.
Mr. Whittington grew up in Winston-Salem and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He began working at Hardison & Cochran while he was a third-year law student at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law. After graduating with honors and receiving his J.D. in 2016, he joined the law firm as a full-time attorney.
