Fatal Bus Accident in Benson

WRAL reported yesterday morning that 9 people were injured and 1 person was killed in a wreck involving a bus in Benson. Both passengers in the bus and drivers of other vehicles are included in those that were hurt. According to the article, the driver of the bus had fallen asleep and woke up when the bus started to roll over a median. When he realized what was happening, he overcorrected which prompted a nearby car to swerve. This caused the fatal accident. The article mentions that there were 48 people on the bus and 4 people, including 2 children, in the car that swerved. One of the adults, the grandmother of the two children, passed away due to this crash. Four bus passengers, one an infant, were injured in the accident. The District Attorney is currently considering charges against the driver.

There is no excuse for the occurrence of an accident like this. The injuries and loss of life were completely avoidable, and the party at fault should be held responsible. However, dealing with the company of the bus driver can be a very complicated and frustrating situation. Buses are used by many different agencies, such as private companies and government entities, e.g. public schools and city buses. Whatever the agency, it is possible for it to be held liable for your injuries due to a wreck. If you, a family member, or a friend finds themselves in the unfortunate situation of being involved in a bus accident, our North Carolina Bus Accident Attorneys may be able to get you the compensation you deserve. Medical treatment and vehicle repair can become very expensive, and we want to try to make sure you are covered during your time of need.
