With the temperature starting to drop, we figured this would be a great time to go over some fireplace safety tips. While the temperatures didn’t drop too far this past weekend, it was a reminder that colder weather is only a few weeks away. According to the US Fire Administration, more than one third of Americans use fireplaces, wood stoves and other fuel-fired appliances as primary heat sources in their homes. Each year, 36% of residential home fires in rural areas are attributed to one of these heating sources. If you use a fireplace, wood stove or another appliance to heat your home, please check out the information below to make sure everything is safe and ready to go when the mercury drops.
