If you are unable to stay on the scene, you should give your name, address and telephone number to one of the parties in the accident to give to the officer to contact you if he/she needs any additional information about the accident. you can also follow-up with the local police or highway patrol to let them know you witnessed the accident to give them a statement of what you saw happened.
