William D. Owens was born and raised in Oxford, North Carolina. He then moved southeast to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a financial disputes analyst for IBM in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. After time in the business world, he attended Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University where he earned a Juris Doctorate while graduating with honors. While at Campbell he earned Book Awards for Pre-Trial Litigation and North Carolina Motor Vehicle Law. He also received Honors Awards in Advanced Trial Advocacy.

Mr. Owens has dedicated his whole career as an attorney to the civil litigation of injury claims where he has only represented plaintiffs. He feels that practicing the law is both an honor and a privilege. He attributes his desire to bring his best everyday to the office and court room due to the satisfaction he feels when a client tells him he has done a good job and helped them and their family out in a difficult situation. Mr. Owens is a member of the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. What To Do Right After An Accident?

Having an accident can be a very stressful situation whether you are injured or not. However, there are a few things you can do right after an accident to make the ordeal a little less stressful. First, at the scene get as much information as you can about the other party. Get the driver’s name, address, phone number and license plate number. If there are any witnesses that saw the accident and come to check on you, get the witness’s name, address and phone number. Many times witnesses leave before the police arrive. However, if you have this information you can give it to the police officer and she/he can follow-up with the witness if there is a dispute as to what happened in the accident.
