Steve Gugenheim has been practicing law since 1991. After graduating from Cumberland Law School in Birmingham, Alabama, where he was Editor of the Cumberland Law Review and a member of the nationally acclaimed Cumberland Mock Trial Team, he began his career as a defense attorney for one of the largest law firms in the United States. Since relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2000, Mr. Gugenheim has exclusively represented the families of victims of nursing home abuse and neglect. He has helped hundreds of victims of nursing home abuse and neglect and is recognized as one of the leading attorneys in the State of North Carolina for handling these types of cases.
Mr. Gugenheim has obtained some of the largest verdicts and settlements in the State of North Carolina. Many of his cases have been reported in North Carolina Lawyers’ Weekly, the leading legal publication in the State of North Carolina. Through Mr. Gugenheim’s efforts, the North Carolina Court of Appeals has interpreted laws that benefit residents of North Carolina’s nursing homes.
